Around 11:00 AM, a village official on patrol in a government vehicle to assess flood damage spotted a bear about 70 cm long in a soba field along the Sugizawa-Kamikoani Line. It then headed east into the forest. It was about 100 m straight from National Route 285 to a nearby house.
