On November 4 a single bear was repeatedly sighted on the grounds of Miyagi University’s Yamato Campus, prompting students to shelter inside campus buildings. The bear was observed walking through nearby woods and swimming across a campus pond before moving back into the forest, and police and university staff patrolled the area. No injuries were reported, but the sightings contributed to event cancellations nearby as residents grew concerned.
