Near the entrance to the slope up to the middle school, from the opposite side of the road I heard a gnawing sound and saw a mother and cub. The bear noticed me and retreated east about 150 m, crossing the road. The cub climbed toward the top of a house, but the mother approached me, so I fled; the mother then climbed toward the mountains in front of the tea shop. The mother’s length is 1 m to 1.2 m.
