On April 23, 2026, a black bear was reported near Ōbadani chi in Kazuno, about 5.5 km from the Tamagawa Onsen No.1 parking lot toward Kazuno. The bear was on a snowy slope, noticed a car, panicked, and ran uphill toward Tamagawa Onsen, which is the sharpest recent reminder of how close these animals are coming to the roadway here.
