Gotsu's latest black bear report came on April 5 at JR San'in Line Namako Station in Gotsu Hashicho, where a train driver saw a bear cub about 60 cm long crossing the tracks from the seaside side. A second report the same afternoon at JR San'in Line Hasako Station in the same area described another juvenile bear moving across the line.

Most of the recent activity has centered on Gotsu Asaricho and Gotsu Kakushicho, with repeated sightings near Asari Beach and on municipal roads in those neighborhoods. The area has logged 90 black bear sightings overall, and the monthly pace has been heaviest in March 2026 with 8 reports, after a run of 5 in July 2025 and 5 in May 2025.
