I saw a bear coming down the Yoshidaguchi promenade from the mountain side and crossing the road. While driving on Fujizakura Street (?), I noticed a dark shape crossing the road; when I looked toward where it went, an adult-sized bear was standing there. I couldn’t take a photo, but I clearly confirmed it.

While descending the Inariyama course during trail running, I heard a loud rustling as if an animal was pushing through the bushes on my front left. When I looked toward the sound, I saw what appeared to be a black animal—likely a bear—running away quickly within about 50 meters. Although I was wearing sunglasses, it looked about 1–1.5 meters long, so I believe it was a bear. I had been running downhill with bear bells, so I think it noticed human presence and hurriedly fled. I didn’t have time to stop and take a photo, and the location is approximate. I was measuring distance by GPS as I ran, and it was just past 2 km from the summit, but I roughly identified the spot by comparing with someone’s recorded track on YAMAP. There may still be some margin of error. I posted this because there was a sighting reported yesterday at Yakoin.

On June 8 (Monday) at around 12:15 PM, on Prefectural Route Shimogō-Aizuhongō in Ōuchi, Shimogō Town, a witness (male in his 40s) observed, while driving, a single bear (approximately 50 cm in length) coming down from the forest beside the road. The bear attempted to climb the rockfall-prevention wire mesh but noticed the approaching vehicle and returned to the forest.

On Sunday, June 7, at around 7:15 p.m., on the Tohoku Expressway (Ban-etsu Expressway) westbound near 112.6 km in Hatta, Kawahigashi-machi, Aizuwakamatsu City, a passenger car driven by a man in his 40s, while traveling in the westbound passing lane, collided with a bear (approximately 1.2 m in body length) that crossed from the right toward the left across the direction of travel. Neither the driver nor the occupants were injured. The bear died near the accident site.

On Sunday, June 7 at about 5:20 p.m., a witness (male) working in a field in Makizawa area, Ishiyama, Higashiyama-machi, Aizuwakamatsu City, spotted one bear (about 1 meter in length) coming out of the forest to the south. The witness then scared the bear off with a bear-repellent firework he had; the bear turned its back on the witness and fled back into the forest.

On Sunday, June 7 at approximately 11:26 a.m., on the downhill lane of the Tohoku Expressway (Ban-etsu Expressway) near 107.2 km in Shimokawamae, Sarashina, Bandai Town, a passenger car driven by a man in his 60s, traveling in the first lane of the downhill direction, collided with a bear (about 50 cm in body length) that crossed from the right to the left of the travel direction. There were no injuries to the vehicle’s driver or other occupants. The bear was found dead near the accident site.

On Sunday, June 7 at approximately 10:40 a.m., in the Nasu-zawayama area of Tando, Minamiaizu Town, a witness (female in her 30s) saw one bear (about 50 cm in body length) on the slope of the forest to the right of the roadway while traveling west on National Route 121 at the above sighting location. The bear then ran back into the forest.
