On April 14, 2026 at around 14:00, there were three reports of bear sightings by residents and passersby in Itamuro, Nasushiobara City, near Otome Falls in Tochigi Prefecture; in each sighting a bear about 1.1–1.5 m long was observed. It is unclear whether they were the same individual, and police warned the public as bears begin to be active after emerging from hibernation.
