Around 2:00 p.m. on June 6, near 103.3 km post on the Ban'etsu Expressway (southbound), a man driving observed a bear about 1.2 m walking along the south shoulder toward the west. Police and Nexco Patrol Tohoku personnel monitored the area but did not locate the bear.
