Around 8:05 p.m. on June 5, on the Ban'etsu Expressway northbound near 102.4 km post, a car carrying a driver in his 50s and two family members struck a bear about 1.2 m long that crossed from the left to the right side of the direction of travel. There were no injuries. The bear died on the road after the collision.
