On May 7, 2026, in Sotogahama Town, at about 11:00 a bear about 1 meter long was seen in Kanita Minamisawa crossing a road toward Yomogita Village. At around noon, on a forest road in Kanita Sotokuroyama another bear over 1 meter long was observed crossing the forest road toward Yomogita Village.
