Hachimantai’s most recent bear trouble came on February 7, 2026, when a juvenile black bear about 70 to 80 cm long and roughly 20 kg was trapped at a warehouse near a cowshed in Hoshizawa after it had been staying there since February 6. Earlier on February 6, another report from the same Hoshizawa area described a bear cub inside a warehouse near a cattle barn, showing how close these visits have been getting to farm buildings.
